Into: The Present

Kathleen Whitaker small dot earring (sold individually for mixing and matching or on its own)

Beatrice Valenzuela botin bootie in navy

vintage St. Edmonds sweater (love the label!) from The Lower Lodge

A week ago we went to a really cool (literally and figuratively!) event called Deck the Halls, hosted by our friends Kenny and Chris of the Ojai Rancho Inn. Each little room was filled with delights from designers and crafts people, mostly from southern California but some from Northern as well. Here are a few of our picks and things that would make for special presents...an earring from Kathleen Whitaker, a bootie from Beatrice Valenzuela, and a one-of-a-kind vintage sweater from the Lower Lodge.
Music from Little Wings (Kyle Field) ended the day on a high note - Sorry pun intended :)

French Dressing: Laurence Doligé Trousers

via Steven Alan
There's something very '80s French style about these Laurence Doligé "Daddy" trousers. Can imagine one of the people in Mark Steinmetz' photos of Paris in 1985 wearing something like this...(white canvas sneakers optional).

Into: Mark Steinmetz' Paris in my time

Really looking forward to receiving this photo-book from La Garçonne soon. The pictures were taken between 1985-2011. More about it here.

Monday Obsession: Vintage sweatshirts

Not an obsession just today but really excited about this new old find. Not only cool because it's our Dad's alma mater but also has a lion AND a horse on it and it's for the equestrian team. Need we say more?

Tuesday's Obsession: Maria La Rosa silk socks

Maria La Rosa mid-calf silk socks via La Garçonne

The Game of Patience, Balthus 1954

There's something very cool about the idea of wearing silk socks. The way they slouch and just the sheer luxury of them. I can imagine one of Balthus' girls wearing them, bunched over ballet shoes or loafers.

Monday Inspiration: Weekend Souvenirs

From left: vintage flannel and Chivas Skincare's Hefeweizen goat milk soap from Summer Camp and vintage bandana from Mate Gallery

It helps to have a few mementos from the weekend to ruminate on when it's Monday. Discovered some great new shops: Summer Camp in Ojai and Mate Gallery in Montecito. Already looking forward to going back!

Monday Inspiration: Chunky Shoes

Finally we got these into our closet...platform Prada oxfords (thank you, eBay!)! Worth the wait since they were gotten for a fraction of the price that they were originally a few seasons back.
A natural fit with the chunky sweater and jeans or a skirt with slouchy, silk socks. This lookbook image below is from one of our favorite inspirations and stores online, La Garçonne.

Weekend Flashback: Lost Highway

images via fashion gone rogue

This was a memorable editorial from Vogue in the October 2012 issue. With inspiration taken from Kerouac's On the Road, the pictures (taken by Peter Lindbergh) really capture that Autumn mood and wistful feeling. Love the chunky knits and expert layering.

Knit Wit

This is one of my favorite sweaters (purchased for a $1 at the Goodwill, the brand is Savile Row). Yes, it's really oversized and has a hole that keeps getting bigger and bigger every time I wash it but I still love it - The linen-y wheat color and the slouchiness keeps me holding on. I have been wearing it with Acne Pop jeans a lot lately.

Home + Fashion: Margaret Howell

Details from Margaret Howell's store and home via ELLE South Africa

Margaret Howell is one of the quintessential garçonne designers and definitely one of our favorites. Her home and stores are just as inspiring and so consistent with her minimal, modern and classic aesthetic.

Here's a cool interview with her on "why good quality clothes matter" via The Guardian.

Garçonne Living Space

Domino magazine's "outfit into a room" featuring stylist Jessica de Ruiter via flickr

We're in the process of moving!! Many apologies for the infrequent blogging but we are very excited about our new home in Ojai, a magical place in California. Since we're relocating, our minds are turned onto dressing our living space at the moment (instead of ourselves). Love this little spread that was in Domino magazine a few years back - Such a cool idea!

Krazy Kat (s)

vintage Indian blouse, Acne Pop jeans, Illesteva Frieda sunglasses

Just as sometimes you can judge a book by its cover, you can also say that about the label on a piece of clothing. While looking for a vintage Indian shirt on Etsy, we stumbled across this oldie but goodie. The label was a huge selling point (for the cat crazy girl)! Not to mention the amazing bird print and colors, burgundy and indigo. Finding shirts like this isn't getting easier and you're definitely going to pay for condition. When you find them, however, they are worth every penny.

PS - Happy World Cat Day!!!
