Into: The Present

Kathleen Whitaker small dot earring (sold individually for mixing and matching or on its own)

Beatrice Valenzuela botin bootie in navy

vintage St. Edmonds sweater (love the label!) from The Lower Lodge

A week ago we went to a really cool (literally and figuratively!) event called Deck the Halls, hosted by our friends Kenny and Chris of the Ojai Rancho Inn. Each little room was filled with delights from designers and crafts people, mostly from southern California but some from Northern as well. Here are a few of our picks and things that would make for special presents...an earring from Kathleen Whitaker, a bootie from Beatrice Valenzuela, and a one-of-a-kind vintage sweater from the Lower Lodge.
Music from Little Wings (Kyle Field) ended the day on a high note - Sorry pun intended :)

Field Trip: Echo Park Craft Fair (Part 1) - Beatrice Valenzuela

Shoe designer Beatrice Valenzuela (her handmade footwear is pictured above) started the Echo Park Craft Fair back in 2009 and it has since grown into quite the event for southern California artisans. The last time I went was back in 2010 with my friend Rebekah (who was selling her ceramics, books and quilts) and it was at Beatrice's lovely new home. I remember thinking what a cool community of people they were and talented to boot! Even though it has gotten bigger, it has still retained that cool sense of community. Designers whom I first encountered back then, such as Clare Vivier, Kathleen Whitaker and of course Beatrice, were best kept secrets down south. Now, just a few years later, they are selling at some of the best boutiques as well as opening their own. I'm very happy for them since they really are a great group of ladies!

Thanks Beatrice for getting this (party) started!
