It's going to be the weekend soon (yay!) and we're heading to the Brentwood Country Mart tomorrow for a field trip to the Clare Vivier for Jenni Kayne event. Should be fun! We both are into these two designers so it's perfect that they are doing something together. 

You know what else sounds like fun? Having a day of escaping into a good book, in the sun. Happy Weekend!

Bal d'Afrique by BYREDO

This Stockholm-based parfumer takes fragrance to a new level, we think -- and as scent junkies, we don't say that lightly.

Founder Ben Gorham is fascinated with "the world of fragrance and its effect on my memories and impressions. Through BYREDO I want to communicate my own personal experiences — to contribute to an almost collective memory of time and place."

Our pick: Bal d'Afrique. Described as "a warm and romantic vetiver inspired by Paris in the late 20's and its infatuation with African culture, art, music and dance. A mix of the Parisian avantgardism and African culture shaped a unique and vibrant expression. The intense life, the excess and euphoria is illustrated by Bal d'Afrique's neroli, African marigold and Moroccan cedarwood." What a wonderful way to wake up and start a new week.

In keeping with the Cheap Chic Update guide to vintage shopping, we found this French leather jacket at a local flea market. By MG PARIS - Mireille Granier, this perfect perfecto is so unique it even has a handwritten label! It's probably from the early 80s since the sleeves have a slight dolman effect, although it's not dated at all. It's broken in just right, timeless, French and recycled (we're both keen on that part).
